Pyjamas Are Having A Moment Right Now
By Aditi Rana
If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram this summer and haven’t spotted pyjama pants, you’ve probably seen these hot trends instead: jorts, milkmaid tops, sporty styles, naked shoes, naked dresses, crochet hot pants, baseball caps, woven tote bags, and Brat green. The list keeps growing! Also, vertical-striped trousers have been popping up everywhere, both in real life and online. Once I noticed them, they seemed to be everywhere I looked.
The blend of comfort and modern style has created a strong following for brands like Donni and Daily Sleeper, and now even luxury names like Toteme and The Row are jumping on board.
Pyjama-esque silhouettes and the trend of styling actual pyjamas as new pyjama pants have been all the rage recently. Much like the boxer short trend of 2024, this slouchy look might be a lingering effect from those lockdown days spent in loungewear. Striped trousers have made their way from parks and the Tube to high-fashion runways, appearing in the spring/summer 2024 collections of Dries Van Noten and Louis Vuitton. It’s clear this comfy trend is here to stay and is making waves across all fashion arenas.

And If you are also wondering, how to nail the pyjama pants trend without looking like you just rolled out of bed; the key is to pair your trousers with actual shoes instead of slippers. Think sturdy sandals, ballet flats, or trainers—flip-flops work too. Add some layered jewellery and a stylish handbag to complete the look. With this approach, styling this trend is as easy as getting out of bed.

Unlike the laid-back boxer shorts of summer, striped trousers are versatile enough to carry you into autumn and beyond. They look great with everything from bikinis and tank tops to shirts and knitwear. No wonder they’re such a hit—get ready to see them all over your socials!
