Gaurav Gupta Unveils ‘Across the Fire’ at Paris Fashion Week, Inspired by Wife’s Survival Story
Gaurav Gupta presented his Spring 2025 Couture collection, “Across the Fire,” at Paris Fashion Week, blending personal tragedy with high fashion. The collection was inspired by his wife, poet Navkirat Sodhi, who survived a life-threatening fire accident eight months ago. Gupta transformed her journey into an evocative display of resilience, using couture as a medium to narrate love, trauma, and rebirth.

Navkirat, who suffered burns on 55% of her body, not only became the muse but also opened the show, walking the runway in a cream-hued draped corset gown. Her scars, visible on her arms and legs, became a powerful statement of strength.
Gupta’s designs captured the essence of fire—its power to destroy, transform, and renew. The collection featured dramatic silhouettes, sculptural drapes, and metallic elements, symbolizing the interplay between destruction and beauty. The color palette reflected the shades of burns and bruises, transitioning from black to deep purple to blue, signifying pain, healing, and resurgence. Flowing fabrics mimicked flickering flames, while structured pieces embodied the raw strength of survival.
Known for his avant-garde approach to couture, Gupta once again pushed creative boundaries. “Across the Fire” was more than fashion—it was a deeply personal and artistic tribute to resilience, love, and the power of transformation. The show left an indelible mark, proving that couture can be both an artistic expression and a profound storytelling medium.
